For the lucky ones among you that are soon leaving on holiday, here are some tips:
1/read-up on your holiday destination before you leave, so you don't miss any hot spots - you can find cool travel guides online. here or here.
2/don't forget to pack ear plugs - use them when you want to nap on a long-haul flight or when your hotel room isn't as sound-proof as you'd liked
3/planes can get chilly - pack a scarf to avoid a cold. i want this neon pink one.
4/my top-tip for the ultimate holiday feel - stay off the grid. no cell phone or internet, just enjoy the sun and the company of your holiday buddies.
In September I will be going to Turkey for some R&R in the sun - I've booked a room in a quiet little pension near the coast. Can't wait... Have a nice holiday everyone!

Style crush: Capucine Safyurtlu

It's no secret that I like the French Voguettes'style. Apart from Emmanuelle Alt and Géraldine Saglio, fashion & market editor Capucine Safyurtlu is my go-to inspiration for French style with capital S. Nicknamed as Alt's mini-me because of her similar dress style, Capucine wears cool clothes like no other. Loose tops and shirts with low-slung cropped jeans & a pair of pumps - it's almost like a uniform. A pair of white jeans are still on my shopping list, my collection of shirts is getting bigger and bigger. C'est cool quoi.

Weekend wanderlust

This weekend is all about having some time off. No cell phone, internet or other distractions. Just me, myself and I. Sounds selfish? Hell yeah! How about a cooking experiment - this spread looks delicious. Or a fun DIY-project? Always wanted a stack of colourful bracelets. And this Venice beach house has me pinning like mad. My future weekend getaway (a girl can dream, can't she?) has to look just like it...

Hermine Van Dijck

Two weeks ago I went to the exhibition Sovperiod with Eefje, one of the three artists showing their work. I felt so inspired by the art on show that I decided to buy something from all three of them. First up, textile designer Hermine Van Dijck. I loved her round cushions and bought one with silver thread, bright orange and blue. She also makes the most beautiful, intricate wool blankets with geometric patterns. Make sure to take a look at her blog to see more of her work and what inspires her.

Double up: denim on denim

Ever since Mr Strauss invented the 501 jeans as workwear - 140 years ago! - denim has been hanging in wardrobes around the world. My closet has 8 pairs on the rails. From my distressed boyfriend jeans, over slick skinny blacks, flared blue jeans to a dark blue boot cut. From the high street, vintage shop or high-end brand, everything goes. Matching my jeans with a denim top is often my choice of clothes for a laid back weekend. Even if that means my brother thinks I've escaped straight out of the eighties...

What I loved... in May

5.6.13

The past month has been perfect - well except for the rainy weather that is. I spent three lovely days in Paris. And ate too much of the delicious French cuisine. Got selected to win a Weekend Blog Award, totally unexpected. Went out with friend Elke to celebrate her marriage - congratulations girlie! Drank liters of my favourite brew: a caffe latte from   barista-down-the-block Normo. Cheered at my nephew's second birthday party, he's becoming a big boy. And danced danced danced at Magic's Motown Party. Bye bye May, hello month of June!

La marinière

Stripes are slowly taking over my wardrobe. It started with a single pile of striped shirts, now there are three. And they didn't leave it at that - they're also hiding in the sock drawer and among my sweaters. I can't seem to leave a boutique without buying at least one item with stripes. The fact that there are blogs dedicated on the marinière isn't helping the matter...
