Happy New Year!

photo via coco+kelly

Winter has crept up on me and I'm feeling a bit feverish. Time for some Tender Loving Care, aka me time in the bathroom. I've stocked up on some beauty essentials: body oil, soothing lip balm, captivating showergel, scented candles, perfumed shampoo etcetera. All that and a good night's sleep will get me in tip-top shape for New Year's eve.

Okay, so judging by the looks I get when I wear my new furry boots people don't get the Yeti look Chanel came up with for AW 10/11. I'm hooked however. It's the first winter I don't have cold feet and am now contemplating buying a fur coat, fur stole and fur hoodie. Faux fur, here I come!

Merry Christmas!

Fait main

Just received a package from the postman. The book I had ordered has finally arrived: Paris - made by hand. Talented stylist Pia Bijkerk has collected the adresses for more than 50 shops and ateliers where you can buy all things handmade. She guides you trough Paris on a treasure hunt for unique designer objects and vintage finds. Can't wait for my next visit, who knows what I'll find...

Checks mate

Ever since I first saw the guys from William Lawson on screen in their tartan skirts, I've loved checked clothes. A checked shirt gives an instant fresh and young look, thus it's a staple in my wardrobe.

Gold fever

The holiday parties are around the corner and after searching the perfect party dress, it's time to figure out what make-up to wear. Inspired by the recent metallic mania on the runways and Hollywood diva Marlene Dietrich, who was rumoured to have gold dust sprinkled on her hair to gleam on film, I think gold is a good choice. Flirty lips with golden lipstick, luminescent skin,  shimmery eyes and to top off a warm, musky scent.

Winter is kicking in and it's getting colder every day. The first snow has fallen, time to get my warm winter coats out of storage. And maybe buy myself an extra one, because I felt inspired looking at the pictures below...

I'm dreaming of a white kitchen

Europe is covered in snow and apart from dreaming of a white Christmas, I also have visions of the beautiful white kitchen I want in my new place. I'm still looking for that dream-appartment, but already have a moodboard ready with pictures of thé kitchen. I hope to be making Christmas dinner in my brand spanking new kitchen next year...

Soho House Berlin

Planning a little trip to Berlin and I would love to stay at the Soho House. The elegant boutique hotel and private members' club opened in May 2010 in a former communist government building. Situated in Berlin Mitte near Alexanderplatz, the hotel with 40 rooms also has a private cinema, rooftop pool, terrace bar, a Cowshed spa and a bistro. In each room you can find the usual suspects like bathrobe, flipflops, hair dryer etcetera but also a vintage record player and a selection of custom vinyl LP's. How cool is that?!

Easy peasy

"Women have gone through so much. My job is to make clothes easy for them."
- Alber Elbaz

Lanvin for H&M hits selected stores tomorrow.

I recently discovered the work of American artist Lauren Dicioccio. She's fascinated by the replacement of everyday objects like newspapers, slides, magazines etc. These are becoming obsolete as they are taken over by technology (iPad anyone?). She uses embroidery to emphasise the touch of things. To remember the feeling of paper while writing...

Sweeping skirts

In the current fall collections the length of skirts can go from mini to maxi. Floor sweeping skirts are seen on runways and in the streets. I've already bought myself a long black skirt and some lace up leather boots. Here's some inspiration...

Patisserie Méert

Even in the pouring rain, there's nothing like some retail therapy  to lift your spirit. So I went shopping in Lille, in the north of France, yesterday. In between some serious shopping we took a break in the tea salon of Patisserie Méert. The chocolate and confectionary boutique opened in 1761 and is famous for its waffles. In the beautiful 19th century decor you can buy all kinds of delicious sweets for gourmands: macarons, guimauves, pralines... This winter the famed waffles are available in two flavours: in the original vanilla flavour and a spéculoos variant. Délicieux...

It's love at first sight with all the handbags Phoebe Philo has designed for Celine recently. After my major crush on the Luggage handbag, I am now head over heels in love with the Classic box bag. Santa, please leave me one under the Christmas tree...

Comfort clothes

When it's cold and rainy outside like today, I tend to cover myself up in layers of warm comfy clothes. Sweatpants, a lumberjack flannel shirt, boots and a thick wool scarf. I love the fall collection from Ulla Johnson that has all the right ingredients for a head to toe warm winterlook.

Creepy creatures

Scottish textile designer Donna Wilson makes cuddly animals in strange shapes and funky fabrics. Say hello to Mr Peanut, Puddleman and Stick the Snail. You can buy the scary cuddles and handmade cushions, blankets and throws on her website. She also sells a Make Your Own Monster Kit, a DIY pack so you can make your very own creepy creature. Perhaps a good Christmas gift for one of your friends?

Furry fashionista

In my constant search for cool stuff on the world wide web I recently stumbled upon the furriest of fashionista's, Miss Fifi Lapin. On her blog she shares her daily outfits and fashion tips. I've ordered her style guide and since it arrived in the mail couldn't stop reading in it. It's packed with tips for everyday style, beauty secrets and interviews with fashion designers. My favourite kind of bedtime book.

Real estate heaven

I've been thinking about buying my own place in Antwerp for a while now. Not that I don't love the bijou apartment in the city centre I'm currently living in, but a girl's gotta move on. And this girl is dreaming BIG! Not necessarily in size, but quality... As I mentioned before I adore Paris and I would love to find my very own Parisian style apartment here in Antwerp. Quite a difficult task... And then I stumbled upon the site of a+b kasha and thought I'd gone to real estate heaven. They buy and decorate apartments in Saint-Germain and they are all mounthwatering beautiful. Just take a look at the before-after section and start drooling. I'm considering a move to Paris...

Snow white

I've put this Diana mini lomographic camera on my wishlist for Christmas. Designed in the 60s it wasn't a big success. But now she's back and how... The blurry-soft and dreamy-toned images capture reality as no other camera can. Special features like the retro square format, half-frames option or multiple-exposure panoramas get you to experiment. Can't wait to start shooting...

New Look

In 1947 French couturier Dior launched a Spring collection that would change the look of fashion in post-war Europe. Away with the functional wartime clothes, in with elegant full skirts that exuded romance. This winter the full skirt took over the runways again. From Zara to Louis Vuitton, everyone can get themselves an escape into a romantic, elegant style that channels their inner Mad Men lady.

Wall art

I love the work of Swedish illustrator Stina Persson. She uses ink, watercolour and gouache paint to portray sensual women. She states that her work is about "finding the right balance between the edgy and the elegant, the raw and the beautiful." Her distinctive portraits are used on the products of skin care line Face Boutique. The bottles would look great in my bathroom...

Little Red Riding Hood

One of the must-haves in your closet this winter is a cape. Elegant and ankle-sweeping or short and fun, capes are all about comfort. Wear them with skinny pants or a long skirt to balance out your silhouette. Be bold and pick a cape in a strong colour or one with a fur collar.

Smiley faces

Rose Bakery

Paris is my favourite city, so I try to visit it at least once a year. I have a little black book filled with special adresses and Rose Bakery in the Marais is one of them. This English inspired bakery sells vegetable tarts, salads and cakes. You can take-away the goodies or eat them at one of the wooden tables. I tried the lentil salad and a vegetable tart last time I was there and they were so yummy! Rose Bakery has a cookbook with all its succes recipes, so you can try to make everything at home...

Dents de bonheur

In recent fashion editorials models with a gap between their teeth rule. In French these are called 'dents de bonheur' or 'happy teeth', just love that name... And to think I had my teeth fixed when I was younger. Could have been my unique-selling-point.

Found these funny cards from Rifle Paper Co.  online. They sell beautiful greeting cards, prints & invitations. I will keeping my eye on their site for my Christmas cards.

Front row part deux

The fashion pack has left Paris. Below are some of the outfits I found inspiring from the runways in Milan and Paris. Beautiful prints, luxurious fabrics & wellcut silhouettes, I'm already creating my wishlist.

I love the packaging of the bio perfumes from Honoré des Prés. Get your own take-away-perfume-cup with scents of vanille, coconut, flowers & spices on their website

Loved the SS collections from the following brands that were shown in the Big Apple & London. Perfect cuts and colours for a new season in my opinion...

Here's what inspires me for this fall... Can't wait to fill my wardrobe with new stuff!
