Patisserie Méert

Even in the pouring rain, there's nothing like some retail therapy  to lift your spirit. So I went shopping in Lille, in the north of France, yesterday. In between some serious shopping we took a break in the tea salon of Patisserie Méert. The chocolate and confectionary boutique opened in 1761 and is famous for its waffles. In the beautiful 19th century decor you can buy all kinds of delicious sweets for gourmands: macarons, guimauves, pralines... This winter the famed waffles are available in two flavours: in the original vanilla flavour and a spéculoos variant. Délicieux...
